Malaria

I remembered that I didn't speak much about this... It's a parasite transmitted via mosquito bites. Those mosquitoes only go out at night. There are no effective vaccines yet, although medication, like Malarone, can prevent it. It's quite expensive, so it's better to have an health insurance.

Mosquito repellents with DEET work fine and it's also a good idea to sleep with a net around the bed.
Facts: If you get malaria only once, you can't give blood... ever. Once I got back from Africa, if I didn't, hopefully, get the disease, I'll have to wait a year to give blood - I get back September 8th, I'll have to wait until September 9th 2012 to give blood.
